Switzerland is the second country after Austria to cover myopia management in basic health insurance. From 1 July 2024, patients up to the age of 21 will receive annual contributions from their health insurer. The fact that the catalogue of health services has been extended in times of rising healthcare costs is remarkable and has been achieved not least thanks to a major effort by the professional associations SBAO and OPTIKSCHWEIZ to demonstrate the benefits of myopia management.
