The Audiencia Nacional (Spanish National Court) dismissed in full a challenge by the Professional Association of Ophthalmologists of Spain (APOE) to the competences taught in optometry degrees. The Court also confirmed that opticians-optometrists may refer to the people they care for as “patients”, as no legal provision reserves the term for the medical profession.
