ECOO works closely alongside the European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO) which develops the scientific knowledge base and promotes lifelong learning for optometrists, opticians, vision scientists and all those involved in eye health care across Europe. ECOO holds its spring General Assembly meetings alongside the EAOO conference every year to leverage its synergies and offer a large platform for exchange of information and knowledge.
ECOO supports the work of the World Council of Optometry (WCO), which facilitates the development of optometry around the world and supports optometrists in promoting eye health and vision care as a human right through advocacy, education, policy development and humanitarian outreach.
ECOO regularly works in partnership with EuromContact, which represents the European Manufacturers of contact lenses and lens care products, on issues of shared concern to ensure patients have reliable and safe access to contact lenses and contact lens products.
ECOO works closely with Eurom1 Optical Industries on areas of mutual interest, including understanding the market in optical devices, and understanding and effectively implementing medical devices regulations.
ECOO works with NIQ to help develop better understanding of the optical market across Europe.
Affiliations
ECOO is an affiliate of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA). ENQA is a recognised body that evaluates and endorses quality assurance agencies across Europe, ensuring that they operate in line with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).
