In December 2023, ECOO President Dr Matjaž Mihelčič, wrote in Optometry Today, reflecting on the progress that is being made across Europe towards achieving more effective eye care and what more still needs to be done. He noted that “At ECOO we firmly believe that a key element in achieving the provision of high-quality, cost-effective optometric and optical services across Europe is to have properly integrated eye care services.”
ECOO members have regular opportunities to find out how things are done in other countries, which allows them to give evidence to their own regulators and health policy makers about different approaches to eye care that are both possible and safe.
